This Weekend

After the events of this weekend I think this says it best

“To everyone who’s lost someone they love
Long before it was their time
You feel like the days you had
were not enough when you said goodbye
CRY OUT TO JESUS”

Is it contagious?

So if you check out some of the blogs of my friends you will see that alot of recent posts have been about personal growth. I love to read about that kind of thing in the lives of friends because alot of times I know exactly what they are talking about. I myself have been growing by leaps and bounds lately through the aid of some great books and incredible friends and family. Of course no growth can go on without the Father showing us what we need to change through the ultimate aid of his holy word. Ive learned more this summer so far than I have in a long time. Now don’t get me wring I think because of this growth I’ve actually struggled more in some areas. Meaning the Lord is continual showing me what to change and it seems like I need more work than I thought. and I’m continually having to fight things i thought weren’t my problem. I praise Him for his working in my life.

I want some of that

There is no room in love for fear. Well-formed love banishes fear. Since fear is crippling, a fearful life—fear of death, fear of judgment—is one not yet fully formed in love.
I John 4:18 The Message

There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.
I John 4:18 ESV

I want some of this fearless love.

I was going to use this picture as my header for a while. However I can’t get that bar through sarahs face to go away. I really like the look of the rest of this theme but cant have that bar messing up the picture for long.

Weekend’s

•June 18, 2007 • 5 Comments

Well the weekend was full of uneventful yet restful fun. Friday I went out to eat with my Mom at Jason’s Deli. Now I must say that when it comes to deli restaurants in town there are better ones that Jason’s however there is free ice cream at Jason’s and thus makes a a much more popular deli, however this week the ice cream machine was broken much to my disappointment. After dinner mom and I went over to circuit city where we bought my dad a fathers day gift, a nice digital camera. Then I headed home for a little R&R in the form of a walk around da hood with my trusty ol iPod the extras from The Chronic-What-cles of Narnia and a good two hour conversation with Katie who came by for a visit. Saturday I had a breakfast with my Dad at church and then did a little grocery shopping. Sunday took a great nap and then headed over to church early to attend a new Bible study led by Dr. Thandroian. After church we hit up Stevie B’s for a little free pizza (well it was free for some of us.) and great conversation. In other news two more weeks of summer school left and just a few more weeks till Sarah moves. I cant wait! Anyway Im also trying to put some plans together for the fourth thereafter. And we got a sort of sponsor for our go-kart that Tyler and I have been working on. My good friend Ben Gant’s Dad who does a lot of small engine repair has promised to keep and eye out for a good engine for us.

Live carefree before God; he is most careful with you. I Peter 5:7. I’m having a little trouble with this one right now. Pray for me. On a side note I recently took a break from my reading of 1984 to read The Air I Breathe by Louis Giglio (Founder of Passion Conferences.) This book has been a great encouragement to me and I would suggest it to anyone.

Today was overall a good day my class is going well and today I was able to introduce a friend (Tommy) to disc golf and we played a little tennis all in all it was good exercise and a pretty good afternoon. I’m getting ready to head over to performance hall for the opening night of the summer Shakespeare play A Midsummers Nights Dream. Then we will be off for some eats with some good friends.

New Things

Well this weekend did not turn out as expected but was fun anyway. I was planning on going down to Atlanta to visit a friend but that did not work out so instead on Fri I left work early and played a little tennis with Tommy. Then we went over to Barnes and Nobel where I sent entirely to much money on books but less money than Tommy so I was still feeling good. I bought two books, 1984 by George Orwell and The Air I Breathe by Louis Giglio. Satuday I ran home before going out with Tyler to play disc golf over at Timmons Park. It was like 100,000,000 degrees but fun was still had by all. Saturday night was the usual cookout and card games and then Sunday Tyler Travis Joel and Nathan and I went to Easley to play disc golf. Let me preface this by saying disc golf is a great sport that is also great exercise and lets you enjoy nature while playing. But folks let me tell you the disc golf course in Easley is like the Augusta of disc golf courses I mean it is sweet. It also happens to be more exercise than the rest of the coursed I’ve played. Once again I lost but it was one of my better games. In other news This morning I went to the vending machine (if you recall in my previous post I mentioned something about loosing my Cheez-its in a the vending machine) and decided I did not want anything with carbonation. I wanted Hawaiian Punch but they have been out in our office for like 2 weeks now so I decided to try something new, I wandered over to the Coke Machine, (If you know your Pepsi Products you know that Hawaiian Punch is a Pepsi Product) and found the Minute Maid Citius Tropical Punch, I was not sure if I wanted to get it and try something new but I decide to go for it, I put my money and press the button and out comes. . . none other than. . . Coca-Cola Classic, I was not sure how I felt about that on one hand I ended up with something with carbonation on the other hand it could have been worse, for you see I love Coke, its my favorite, it’s just that its bad for you, bad for your health bad for your teeth bad for your complexion. I also could have seen it as providence like I would have hated the citrus juice. Anyway on a more important note My Girlfriend is now the owner of a new Macbook and a Product Red iPod, which means she is almost as cool as I am.

Summer and such

•June 8, 2007 • Leave a Comment

Well summer school has begun and at this point its not so bad. A lot of reading but its better than grammar because I like to read. Speaking of reading I started and finished a book last night called “She Said Yes”. This book was the story of Cassie Bernall one of the high school girls killed in the Columbine tragedy that happened just over 8 years ago on April 20 1999. Cassie was not your average teenager when she was in early high school. She was into the occult and actually claimed to have given her soul to satan. One day Cassies parents found several notes from friends talking about how she needed to murder her parents and how that was the answer to all her problems. Her parents took these notes very seriously and pulled her out of school acquired restraining orders against some of her friends and proceeded to put her in private school. The only social activity she was allowed to be in involved in was a local church youth group. To make a long story short she went to camp and came back a completely changed person. Then on April 20 1999 Cassie walked into her school library to catch up on some homework and was murdered two young man on an angry rampage. The book was a great read, a little depressing at first but worth reading because of the overall message of the book. In other news I did a little cobble work today on my Sperry shoes, a great pair pf boat shoes but the problem is that the soles are actually sewn on and after enough wear the strings began to wear out. I have tried many different glues in the past to get the soles back to normally but nothing has worked until today. Today I used the always powerful LIQUID NAILS! This of course solved the problem although a little messy and my shoes are somewhat back to normal, although the left one has a bit of an awkward feel. Also my Cheez-it crackers got stuck on the vending machine during the break at summer school today so I bought another package which also got stuck. So for $1.20 I got like 12 Cheez-its’ a little disappointing I’m not going to lie. I also joined an interesting sort of social network today called shefari. It’s a website where you register and then you review books and read what pther people have to say about books and you can see what books are on other peoples “shelves” I was invited by a friend and it seems to be a pretty cool place to find out about different reads.
